For users that use their printers on a monthly basis, it is very important to have a durable cartridge that isn't as prone to plugging up. In these situations It would be best to use an HP or Canon printer, that uses two cartridges, color and black, this style has the print head built into the cartridge, and if it plugs up it is easily replaced. Also, this type of cartridge can often be revived by using some hot water, or some Windex, on the print head. Although it is highly recommended to use your printer more frequently then once a month.

Lexmark, Epson and Bother printers will dry out quickly and plug up badly if not used frequently. For the latter two printers it is very hard to recover them once they have dried out. If they cannot be recovered replacement of the entire printer is required. As the print head on these models are built into the printer.

For the Lexmark Printers the two cartridge models can be replaced to get the printer working again, but they do gel up quickly if not used regularly.

For the individual color cartridge Lexmark models, heavy use is required, if they plug up, the head may be replaceable, but the cost my exceed the cost of replacing the entire printer.

Choosing the right printer.
